Ruthie Sangster is a classical crossover performer and actor from Simpsonville, Kentucky and currently based in NYC. She is a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky (May 2020) where she earned her degrees in both Vocal Performance (BM) and Arts Administration (BA). Ruthie's recent professional credits include Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music and Betty Haynes in White Christmas with Myers Dinner Theatre, Martha Sowerby in The Secret Garden with Round Barn Theatre, and Ensemble/Elsa US in The Sound of Music with The Lexington Theatre Company. She has also spent two seasons at The Lost Colony in Manteo, NC where she has played various roles such as Dame Coleman, Landlady, and Margery Harvie/Female Ensemble, worked as an administrative assistant, and been involved in Professional Theatre Workshops. Some of Ruthie's favorite performances from her undergraduate experience include Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. In addition to her involvement in the arts, Ruthie enjoys hiking, film photography, reading, spending time at local coffee shops, and being with family and friends.
